Specialist Faculties

The RCC recognises a number of areas of special interest and, where these are partnered with special knowledge and competencies, interest groups known as RCC Specialist Faculties have been established. These Specialist Faculties have the following general role:

To develop and recognise competencies and experience relevant to each subject area
To foster open inquiry and debate among practitioners and the wider healthcare community
To encourage and deliver further, relevant continuing professional development and M-level study
To define and uphold the competencies of Specialist Faculty members as they pertain to each subject area
To review, disseminate and develop the evidence-base in each subject area
To support specialist faculty members in developing and extending skills and knowledge in relevant subject areas

Specialist Faculty membership provides a pathway to develop and be recognised for your special competencies and experience. This is very important if you wish to develop your clinical practice in a particular field. It also provides discounted fees for specific CPD events, online resources (as applicable) and networking with like-minded colleagues. In order to join and progress through a specialist faculty, the member must have a minimum status of Licentiate Member of the Royal College.

Applying to Specialist Faculty Membership

Membership of the RCC’s specialist faculties is based on demonstrable interest and, subsequently, demonstration of defined competencies at M-level (Masters level) and/or equivalent. Each of the specialist faculties has produced a core-competencies document and defined the routes to achieve membership.
