Quality Standards

Quality Standards Lead – Stuart Smellie FRCC (Ed), MRCC (Pain)

The main purpose of RCC Quality Standards is to define high-quality chiropractic care for all stakeholders (including patients, the public, healthcare professionals, commissioners and chiropractors). These evidence-based documents incorporate statutory requirements, best practice, and relevant clinical guidelines, tailored specifically to a chiropractic setting. Standards are important tools designed to help deliver the best possible outcomes for patients by supporting chiropractors to maintain and improve the quality of care that they provide.

The RCC Quality Standards are a series of specific, concise statements that define best practice for various presenting complaints, health needs, and services. They have evolved to include flowcharts, infographics, and referenced explanations that elaborate on the evidence supporting the statements.

Quality Standards are promoted by the General Chiropractic Council and are incorporated into the undergraduate education of chiropractors.
